QPM Examples - Using the Fill Standard Cases Window

A new input window has been introduced in Quick Pallet Maker 6 in which you can fill different standard cases and pick the appropriate one(s) before palletizing. This saves time versus the original method of palletizing at once. This example explains how to use this window for multiple packages. We will be using a spreadsheet with data that can be downloaded through the following link.
The first step will be to create the standard boxes in the list at the bottom of the first tab of the Standard Cases and Pallets window. The data from the second page of the spreadsheet can be copied and pasted for a quicker result. A new feature in Quick Pallet Maker allows the user to add the weight of the empty box, which in this case will be 61 and 45 kg, respectively. This can be done by clicking on the cell in the Weight column. We also make sure that "Internal Dimensions" has been selected in the pulldown menu.

Once the standard cases have been configured, we will work with the new Fill Standard Cases window. It can be opened by using the File -> New Data Sheet -> Fill Standard Cases command.

Once the window has been opened, we will copy and paste the primary package data as it appears in the first tab of the linked spreadsheet. This is done in the top table of the window. The next step is to select the standard box type (in this case it's the type of the box that was pasted). Then, we add enough slack per side to make sure that we will be able to generate box fills.

When we use the Tools -> Recalculate command, we create a list of four box solutions. Selecting any one will display a drawing to the right. We can right-click the drawing and choose another view that is better adapted to what we want to export.

Right-clicking on the box drawing allows us to copy it and paste it elsewhere.

The box data can also be copied and pasted to a spreadsheet or to a text file, along with the column headers.
